A version of the Negroni you’d never expect:
In cocktails, a Sour is a combination of citrus and sweet that, accompanied by a base distillate, is used to prepare countless recipes such as Pisco Sour, Whisky Sour or Daiquiri itself.
The Negroni cocktail was born in Florence (Italy) in the middle of the 20s of the last century, where an earl with the same name asked the barman Fosco Scarselli from Caffè Casoni (the current Caffè Giacosa), to add a bit of gin to the cocktail he usually drink with Campari and Vermouth.
Why, then, can not we prepare a Negroni as the basis of a Sour?
Surely this is what Douglas Derrick thought of the Ava Gene’s Restaurant in Portland (Oregon, USA) when he designed this smart cocktail that combines two of the best cocktail formulas and is ideal for people who think that the Negroni was always too intense.
Douglas Derrick i Campari America organizes annually in Portland the Negroni Social contest where the best new variations of this cocktail are selected.
This year 2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the official birth of the Negroni cocktail. This version is also our small contribution to this event.
Campari to celebrate it has released a short film entitled “Entering red”, directed by Matteo Garrone and starring Ana de Armas and Lorenzo Richelmy.
