Usually related with the Tiki cocktails, the Painkiller was born on 1971 at the Soggy Dollar Bar, in the caribbean British Virgin Islands. Specifically, in the small and paradise island of Jost Van Dyke.
The owners of the bar offered this cocktail to their clients a as remedy against hangover. What they really got was a delicious drink, well known throughout the world and perfect for combating heat. It should not be confused with Pina Colada. The Painkiller is more citric and spicier with the Jamaican rum and the pinch of nutmeg.
The curious name of this establisment is because how most of their clients and tourists arrive to the place: with the dollar notes soaked after walking some metres in the sea water from the boat’s stairs to the bar of the Soggy Dollar.
